The News & Observer along with about 60 other media outlets are being subpoenaed by defense lawyers for Demario Atwater, the man facing the death penalty in the Eve Carson murder case.

The subpoena calls for all relevant newspaper articles, letters, editorials and copies of all radio and television broadcasts that covered the Eve Carson murder. It’s the latest strategy by the Atwater defense team to prove their client will not receive a fair trial in North Carolina and that the trial should be moved to Virginia.
